Valentine's Day

We shared a great Valentine's Day with Van and Sarah! The two came over for brunch around 12:30pm, and with mimosas, Denver sandwiches, sausages, and fruit salad on the menu - we didn't want for a thing! So happy to spend time with those guys.

Cooper was so excited to see them both, and he had a blast with the Elmo balloon they brought him! He also showed off his newly mastered walking skills, and had quite a few conversations with Van about anything/everything.

We all hung out, drank wine, and watched the Olympics all afternoon. Collectively daydreamed about winning the lottery and about what event each of us would compete in if given the gift of elite talent. Maria made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that were just delicious. Nice way to spend a Sunday in February!

Van and Cooper getting in some literary quality time.

Hours passed, and we started talking about the remainder of the evening..... And came to the decision that the pair should stay for dinner too! Lori is the most amazing creator of impromptu meals, and she absolutely has kept her title! Porterhouse, grilled shrimp, julienne zucchini with tomato pesto sauce, as well as a pastina dish. Delicious! We also broke out one of the NICE bottles of wine that we tasted in Florence and shipped home. We have been saving the bottles for a special occasion, and Valentine's Day with good friends proved to be the day we were waiting for to uncork one of them.

We bought four red velvet cupcakes to help us celebrate Valentine's Day '10. Cooper was fascinated with the fact that we put the entire confection on his highchair tray.

Cooper just LOVED it!

Worth every crumb!
