HRC Gala Dinner

Christina watched Cooper all day on Saturday while Maria was at Lexington (see earlier post), and Maria got home a little after 4pm to get ready for the HRC gala dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. She showered, picked out what she was wearing in record time, and left the "dead" outfits on the bed to be dealt with later. Maria left to meet Elaine at the hotel bar at 5:45pm, and Christina (see earlier post) continued her marathon day with Cooper.

And Lori? Lori was in the air! Returning home from Colorado that evening, with her flight touching down at 6:30pm. Talk about breaking records! Lori arrived home, got changed and presentable, and down to the gala with the speed of an olympian. Impressive.

C0-chairs Bryan Parsons and Michelle Galindo. (fab job guys!)

Governor Patterson spoke at the cocktail reception.

Joe Solomese, Executive Director of the Human Rights Campaign.

Rory O'Malley and Jenny Kanelos were recognized for their incredible and amazing accomplishments with their grassroots organization, Broadway Impact. This group has been responsible for organizing tens of thousands of people in a call for action to attend rallies that were happening across the United States simultaneously. Besides Rory and Jenny, the other co-founder is Gavin Creel, who was not able to be in attendance because he is currently a member of the cast of Hair on Broadway. Broadway Impact is an phenomenal group. Phenomenal. Very proud that HRC decided to call even more attention to their efforts.

It was a great gala dinner! Rick and Lou were as perfect as they always are with their sign language interpreting, and Maria got her drink on with them as soon as their work was done! Does Maria miss interpreting this dinner? Not really! Anyway, the after-party was a blast, but apparently we did not realize how quickly the wine was flowing! Hung out dancing to the tunes of DJ Susan Levine before heading home.

Which one of us paid the cab driver? We can't remember! Maria walked in the apartment door, did not say a word to Michael and Christina, walked into the bedroom, and just crashed. Good times!
