Barcelona (Sept 24th, 25th)

Look into my eyes. You WILL follow me to Barcelona.
Barcelona. What an absolutely gorgeous, clean, friendly, and fabulous city. We loved every moment we spent here! Stayed in the La Rambla area, and it was perfectly central to all we wanted to see and do.

Lori gets the honor of having her 'Day One' picture posted on the blog because she was the least jet-lagged of our trio.

Maria, OF COURSE, runs into a couple of deaf Barcelonians. Since the sign language of Spain is a completely different language, it was interesting to see them finagle their way to understanding.

One of the coolest things to check out is the massive market, La Boqueria. Wander around to feel its enormity and to check out the fruits, vegs, meats, fish, candies, and prepared food stalls. Everything looked and smelled amazing. We picked up some snacks, a few bottles of wine, and a desperately needed corkscrew. Priceless.

Some amazing architecture designed by Antoni Gaudi.

The "living statues" on La Rambla are definitely an experience, and their creativity is not to be missed. Check out some random clips on YouTube to get a better idea.

Cooper loves being with his Grandma! We were out enjoying a tapas dinner in a plaza close to our hotel, and a guy was selling roses to all the couples. He took a liking to Cooper and gave him a rose without accepting any money for it. How did Cooper shown his appreciation for this gesture? He promptly decapitated the poor posy.

We tried to brush this guy off without handing any portion of a euro, but he was smart. Played the 'kid' card. Ignored our attempts to wave him off and caught Cooper's eye.

And Cooper giggled throughout his entire juggling act. One more euro - into the hands of a street performer!

We happened to be in town for the La Merce festival. Lots and lots of parades at night. Drums and people and drums and whistles and drums and huge huge puppets. Way cool! Very fortunate we were around and had the experience.
Hasta luego Barcelona! Until we meet again on Oct 3rd!
