Camp Noah 2010

We hosted Maria's 10 year old cousin Noah for a week while he attended a day camp at the American Museum of Natural History. Lots of specialties to choose from, and Noah decided that 'Snakes and Lizards' was his forte. These camps are way cool - focusing on the topic is part of the day, and the remainder is split between lunch in the park and exploring the exhibits and behind-the-scene tours. Quite an experience.
We rendezvoused with young Noah while at the Jersey Shore for Lori's birthday. Headed back into the city with Van/Sarah, and Maria was securing the rear by sitting in the trunk of the station wagon. She is quite the trooper, huh?

Sunday Night. Invited Michael and Christina over for some pizza and Italian whatnots. Noah got some male bonding time in with Michael over XBox360. They played Halo and Godfather and football.

Monday. Camp. Noah's first time on the subway. Way cool.
After camp, we headed to Times Square. Noah got the opportunity to raid the swag closet at MTV for some tshirts, stickers, and such. Went to the M&M Store where he bought a custom-mixed bag of M&Ms for way too much money! Then across the street to Hershey. What was the grand purchase? 'The World's Largest Chocolate Bar'. Hey, it is the kid's vacation - if he wants it, so be it!
Noah, not used to walking, was hurtin' a bit. (welcome to nyc kiddo)

Came home to eat dinner. Noah and Cooper had leftover Italian, and we ordered Indian. We poked and prodded Noah until he caved and tried some Indian food. Chicken tikka masala was the gateway.
The verdict! (woohoo!)

What would a trip to NYC be without buying a street pretzel?

Dinner in Little Italy. Again, the kid that didn't want to try anything LOVED the herbed/garlic'd dipping oil that started off our meal.
Extreme subway "surfing".

Thursday night. We got tickets for the Brooklyn Cyclones game in Coney Island. Had fun cheering on the home team. Had a Nathan's hot dog. Got some cotton candy. Good times!
Cooper explaining baseball strategy to his mommy.
The three stooges.
Pizza in a "cone". (only in brooklyn)

Last day at camp. Presentations. Parents, family, friends all invited.

Jeanne and Matt stayed over on Friday night. Cooper and their four were sleeping in Cooper's room. Michael and Christina came over. This isn't even all of it. (don't ask)

Most of the pictures from the week were taken on Noah's camera. Hopefully he sends them to us soon! What else did we do? Went to GameStop for a few more XBox games, saw the building where they filmed some of Ghostbusters (and then bought/watched the movie), strolled in Central Park, a great steak dinner, went on the Staten Island Ferry, saw the Statue of Liberty, checked out Chinatown, gelato in Little Italy, lots of Mr. Softee, and many many subway rides.

Noah had such a great time and still can't stop talking about it. We've still got 1/3 of that huge candy bar!! I'll get the pics downloaded and sent to you soon. Thanks, again!
