PRIDE '10.
Rally.
Maria was one of the sign language interpreters for The Rally that kicks off the week's festivities. This year the event was relocated to Central Park's SummerStage instead of Bryant Park - what a great decision! Such an amazing space, and the crowd was bigger than ever. Hope this is a tradition that sticks around!
Lt. Dan Choi spoke at the rally, and would also be the Grand Marshall at the parade. He is an amazing speaker and an amazing human being - he is a West Point grad, highly valued Arabic translator, and Iraq war veteren...... Who was brought up on military charges for deciding it was time to stop the dishonesty.
HRC Cruise.

HRC Cruise.
We attended the HRC Pride Cruise, and other than a couple minutes of rain, we had a great time! A different boat this year - better food and much bigger. We all had an initial freak-out when we thought we were sharing the vessel with a high school prom! Worry not. All good. Hanging out with Van, Sarah, Michele, Kim, Cathy, Deise, Georgie, Traci, and Eileen made it special. Afterwards went to Chelsea Brewery and then a place near Van's apartment. Maria was the 'Bad Idea Bear'? Hell no!
Lake.
Maria and Cooper went up to the lake early Friday morning to supervise the new rugs being installed. They jet'ed up there in record time! The delivery of the washer and dryer happened as well. Lori took the train up to Port Jervis later in the evening, we grabbed dinner, and then started putting the rooms back together. Lori spent the majority of Saturday working her butt off on the red house. The place is more clean than it has been in ten years! No rest for the weary. What else? Donated a million things to Salvation Army, did some shopping, some outside work, and a bunch more. Work, work, work. But now the entire place is ready for the 4th of July and Van's birthday. Whew!
Parade.
Last Sunday in June. We were scheduled to line up with HRC at 11:30am, but the parade never follows the schedule exactly. And the volunteers from HOP are just so great. Have no idea how they get everyone from all the groups wrangled and organized. An amazing feat! We met up with our group around 12:30pm, and still had time to visit Cheer New York and members from St. Paul and St. Andrew's before we set off on our trek down 5th Avenue. We were all set and ready with ice, water, juice, snacks, etc to keep Cooper hydrated and happy. He waved at the crowd like a pro. Way cute.
Of course, we walked with HRC. A couple of Maria's friends joined us as well. So many stickers - so little time.
