Maria created a Facebook page for Lexington School's cheerleading team. Thus far have 300+ "fans" in the two weeks it has been up and running. Lots of people are posting old pictures and videos of teams from years ago. Now the basketball team is following suit, and have just published their own page as well.
Check it out! Become a fan!
Maria and her team are headed to the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association (ESDAA) basketball and cheerleading tournament on Friday. They were supposed to head out to Pittsburgh for the 3-day tourney last week, but the snow caused it to be canceled. The host school, WPSD, got themselves organized and rescheduled for Feb 19th-21st instead. Great for Maria's team that is mostly seniors, but sucks for Maria since she has to beg off our ski trip to Windham with a big group of our friends.
This is the state of one of our bathrooms..... And the other bathroom looks almost exactly the same! She has been washing uniforms for two days now, and we have a big box of other cheerleading necessities presently living in our dining room.
This is Maria's 14th year coaching. 14 years! She is always saying this is her "last year", but the kids, athletic director, school, and all of Maria's friends know she can not give it up. She so loves it. The fact that she was pregnant last year, gave birth over Christmas break, and still managed to finish the season with all the added responsibilities of Lex being the host school of the tournament in '09 - she isn't giving up this post for a long long while!
